The majestic venue of the Grand Palais begins its 31st edition of the Biennale in customary fashion with an exhibition of rare pieces rigorously selected by a committee of experts. More than six millennia of art and artefacts are gathered in this prestigious, world-renowned salon, including antiques, fine arts and jewellery items exhibited by nearly 90 antique dealers and private collectors from around the world. The international guest of honour of the 2019 Paris Biennale is the Kingdom of Bahrain. The fair has organised a pavilion dedicated to the art and cultural heritage of this Persian Gulf island nation.
Prestigious exhibitors and a prestigious site
Among all the collections of the exhibitors gathered under the superb vaulted glass roof of the Grand Palais, you will have the opportunity to admire and perhaps even buy paintings and old drawings presented by the Ana Chiclana Gallery, well known by Spanish art lovers. Furniture and objets d'art from the 17th and 18th centuries will be exhibited by the noted antique dealer Ludovic Pellat de Villedon, and 20th century decorative works of art by Galerie Marcilhac, the oldest gallery in Paris.
