The Musée national des arts asiatiques – Guimet (MNAAG) is presenting an exhibition that focuses on the trip of Emile Guimet (1836 – 1918) to Asia with the French artist Félix Régamey (1844 - 1907), three years before the foundation of the museum.
In 1876, Guimet was commissioned by the minister of public instruction to travel to Asia and make a deep study of the different religions of the region. Together with Régamey, he assembled a collection of the finest Asian masterpieces and religious objects, which now is housed in the museum in Paris.
Running until March 12th, 2018, the exhibition invites you to discover a wide variety of artworks from the expedition including photographs, drawings, large paintings, diverse personal items, and many other unique pieces.
Musée Guimet is located in the 16th arr. of Paris, not far from the Eiffel Tower. It is home to an outstanding collection of Asian artifacts. So, consider visiting it.
