The Place, the new Hip Hop Cultural Centere at the Forum des Halles

This autumn in Paris will be marked by the launching of a new Hip Hop Cultural center at the Forum des Halles, La Place. A whole 1400 m2 will be exclusively dedicated to hip-hop cultural movement in full swing. In fact, the City of Paris and the department of Seine-Saint-Denis, are at the origin of this great project. Between sharing, creation and transmission, the canopy of the Forum des Halles will be the pole of urban art cultures in Paris.
Save the name, La Place, Hip Hop Cultural Center: this will be the “the place” to be for hip hop fans in Paris from autumn 2015. Located at the first floor of the new Forum des Halles, this place will be the nerve center of hip hop in Paris. The Place is meant to be multi-disciplinary: dance, rap and creations of all kinds will mix natural and plural in this project.
As for status, the Paris City Council decided to make La Place an association governed by the 1901 law to allow creators of all kinds the maximum possible freedom. Jean-Marc Bouget, the founder of the famous Lyon Original festival will be the director of this space dedicated to hip-hop culture. At the installation of the Place, architects have thought of everything. There will be live music venues where unknown and celebrities can offer concerts. Exhibitions, conferences, debates and screenings are planned. Rooms reserved for the practice of dance, music and graphic arts will be available for artists; some will even propose their candidacy for a residence, provided you have an astonishing project.
